چکیده

Catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF) is one of the most complex interventional procedures in cardiology. The procedure has been associated with a minimal but nevertheless important risk of major complications. Cardiac tamponade is the most frequently encountered procedure-related complication occurring in 1.2% to 1.3% of patients in 2 worldwide surveys and 1.3% in a European survey. It is also the main cause of procedure-related mortality, responsible for 25% of lethal cases.

Effects of sex on the incidence of cardiac tamponade after catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation: results from a worldwide survey in 34 943 atrial fibrillation ablation procedures.

BACKGROUND Cardiac tamponade is the most dramatic complication observed during atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation and the leading cause of procedure-related mortality. Female sex is a known risk factor for complications during AF ablation; however, it is unknown whether women have a higher risk of tamponade. METHODS AND RESULTS A systematic Medline search was used to locate academic electrophy...

Effect of Oral Anticoagulant Therapy on Coagulation Activity and Inflammatory Markers in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation Undergoing Ablation: A Randomized Comparison between Dabigatran and Warfarin

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is associated with inflammatory and hypercoagulability state. Previous studies evaluated the safety and efficacy of dabigatran and warfarin in prevention of thrombothic complications. This study was intended to assess the influence of these drugs on hemostatic and inflammatory markers among patient underwent pulmonary vein ablation.   A total of 100 patients with AF w...

A systematic review of surgical ablation versus catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation.

BACKGROUND Atrial fibrillation (AF) is an increasingly prevalent condition in the ageing population, with significantly associated morbidity and mortality. Surgical and catheter ablative strategies both aim to reduce mortality and morbidity through freedom from AF. This review consolidates all currently available comparative data to evaluate these two interventions. METHODS A systematic searc...
